Who can apply?
The following entities may submit a request for technical assistance:
- A governmental institution from an EU partner country; OR
- A regional intergovernmental organisation that includes at least one EU partner country and has ocean-related responsibilities.
Other stakeholders may participate in or support a request, provided that the request is led by an eligible entity.
What can the TAF support?
The TAF can support a broad range of technical assistance activities. Examples of eligible support are provided in the Application Guidelines. Applicants are encouraged to submit requests based on their specific legal, policy, institutional, scientific, technical or capacity-related challenges.
Please note that the TAF provides technical assistance and does not provide direct funding to applicants.
When to apply
The TAF accepts requests on a rolling basis, and requests may be submitted at any time. However, where technical assistance is required by a specific, fixed date, the request should be submitted at least six weeks in advance. Requests submitted with less notice may not be feasible to support.
Applicants are encouraged to contact the TAF Team as early as possible where assistance is linked to an upcoming meeting, negotiation or other time-sensitive process.
Please refer to the Technical Assistance Guidelines for additional information. If you are still unsure whether your organisation or proposed activity is eligible, please contact the TAF Team at taf.ocean@iucn.org or by using this form.
